CUPE Local 3908 has two units. Unit 1 serves contract faculty and Unit 2 serves student academic workers. Each unit has its own Collective Agreement or employment contract. In order to determine what unit you are in, we refer to the "recognition clause" found in the Collective Agreements.

Anyone on a leave, at Trent, from her/his MA or PhD will remain a Unit 2 member. Even though a graduate student is on a leave, she or he is still registered as a student at the university and therefore, still falls under the recognition clause for Unit 2.
