Vacancy: Recording Secretary (Communications Officer)
As the Recording Secretary (Communications Officer), you will be responsible for overseeing the Local's staff in all the Local's record keeping, including (but not limited to): Minutes of all meetings, correspondence, e-mail lists, and membership databases.
The vacant position is only open to members of Unit 1 and Unit 2.
Candidate will become a member of the Executive Committee, and will receive a monthly stipend of approximately $560 with the expectation of approximately 5-7 hours of work per week. The position will commence immediately and be held until the next Annual General Meeting and Elections, Oct/Nov 2016. For more information, please contact us at: email@example.com.
Responsible for the Local’s internal and external communications, including (but not limited to):
Maintaining the Local’s website
Maintaining the Local’s social media accounts
Production of any regular outreach material, digital and hard copy, such as newsletters, posters, brochure
Responsible for staying informed and researching any outreach vehicles that may be useful or relevant to the Local
Chairs executive and membership meetings when the President and Vice-President are absent
Assists in mobilization and education of the members
Member of other committees as time and priority allow
Skills and Experience that would be assets:
- Previous experience as a Contract Faculty member (at Trent and/or other Universities)
- Able to work both collaboratively and independently
- Previous experience as a board member in the public or private sector
- Interest and/or experience in the field of social justice/ workers rights
- Interpersonal skills/ Communication skills
